The Puhek Family

The world has pretty much shut down due to the threat of Covid-19. It’s April 6th as I write this and I have no idea what the world will look like in a month from now. However, the sun still rises and sets and as a single mama myself, I know I need to keep putting one foot in front of the other. I’m planning to use this time at home, in between cooking, cleaning and home schooling, to get this website up to date and a promotion on one hour sessions going. So here’s one of the latest sessions with the beautiful Puhek family.

Arches National Park

Next stop … Arches National Park. I gotta give it to this kid, he hiked like a champ in the snow and all the way to Delicate Arch. I love it, it inspires me to keep getting him out there and on trails. I always say, all the best stuff is either round off a dirt road or a good trail.

Petrified Forest National Park

A few years ago I took Bode on our first holiday road trip to the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell and Zion National Park. I quickly realized the weeks between Christmas and New Years were THE best time to visit our National Park and so the tradition began. This year did not disappoint with our first stop at the Petrified Forest National Park. It was snowing and overcast most of the time making for some pretty blistery weather to be outside. But the clouds broke for a couple hours on our second day and we hustled to get on as many trails as we could with the temperature being more manageable at 33 degrees.

The Skinner Family at the San Clemente Pier

It’s always interesting how people find my work. The Skinner Family was vacationing in San Clemente from Oregon and found me by simply searching online. They wanted natural images of them enjoying each other at the pier and that is right up my alley! Having grown up in San Clemente, it absolutely one of my favorite places to shoot. If you are on vacation anywhere in the area and would like to have some images to document your time, please reach out!

The McPhee-James Wedding in San Clemente

Oh how I love weddings. So much thought goes into every detail with loved ones all coming together in celebration of LOVE, very few events are better, in my opinion. Backyard weddings have a very special place in my heart and the McPhee-James union was just that. From the massive and well tended grounds, to the vibrant blooming flowers at every turn and the majestic Jacaranda tree to frame it all, this yard was made for this day. Kaley’s mother, Jeanne, put her heart and soul into a very special day and watching her father Marty officiate, brought tears to my eyes. It’s was such an honor to document this momentous day and capture bits of the wonderful emotion shared.

mama love

There are a million reasons why I love this work, this is one of them …

Anza Borrego

I am never not aware of how fleeting my time is with my son. Every day, every week, every trip we take, I feel how quick he is crowing and changing. A time will come when he will want to go out and explore without me, but until then, I’m going to soak up as much time with him as I can. This was from our weekend in Anza Borrego in the early fall.

The Sheldon Family at the South Coast Botanic Garden in Palos Verdes

Every family session is as different as the families I'm capturing. I go in to each session with a few ideas, but I’ve learned that with kiddos involved, it’s best to follow the their lead. Everyone has fun and I get to capture them being free making each shot like a little time capsule to treasure. This is The Sheldon Family at the beautiful South Coast Botanic Gardens in Palos Verdes.

The Lansdon Family at Casper's Wilderness Park in San Juan Capistrano

When the Lansden Family reached out to me and said they want something outdoorsy and relaxed, I jumped at the chance to shoot at one of my most favorite spots, Casper’s Wilderness Park. With the stunning old oak trees and the playground for kiddos, its got everything for the perfect outdoor family session. One of the things I feel makes my work and shooting style unique is that I intentionally keep it as natural and UNposed as possible. I will always try for some ‘classic’ family shots for a keepsake, but most times kiddos are unpredictable so instead I incorporate in some playtime so we can capture all the natural family moments in between. That way we end up with happier kiddos and better all around images of your family.

I shoot families year round, so if you are in need of some timeless family photos, drop me a message at hello@sharonwilliamscreative.com.

Just after they said 'I do'

Hello 2020! New year, new websites and a fresh blog. I have been advised by many that I needed to break-up my photography website into two: one for family, engagements and weddings and another for editorial and lifestyle - as each draw two different types of clientele. So here we are, my first wedding post.

These two lovely humans are my friends Mark and Haley. Mark pretty much taught me to snowboard and more specifically to LOVE to snowboard. We spent many a magical day together on Mammoth and June Mountains having some of the best days on a board I’ve ever had. When Mark and Haley first started dating, I knew this would last. When they got engaged, they asked if I would take a few pictures of them on their special day and I couldn’t have been more honored. These pictures were made in that special time just after they said I do. September 28, 2019 in La Jolla, California.
